We’re currently experiencing change at the fastest rate of change in history. But it’s also the slowest that we’ll experience for the rest of our lives. It’s exciting, but it can also be a bit daunting. At the same time, we’re facing into some of the most challenging market conditions to operate in while also figuring things out like hybrid working and the flexibility frontier, the impacts of generative AI, the re-skilling revolution, and a reframe around employee attraction and loyalty. We’re moving at an unprecedented pace that we’re evolutionarily not equipped to deal with. And while that can paralyse some, sitting still is no longer an option, while incremental step change just won’t cut it.

The most successful organisations and leaders are the ones that keep one eye on today and another on tomorrow. That’s where Ben comes in. As a certified futurist and seasoned business strategist, Ben has a track record of successfully supporting organisations to navigate through this complexity.

business strategy

Traditional business strategy is flawed. It’s often based on historical performance, which is projected forwards to give a view of the future. It also applies today’s assumptions to tomorrow’s challenges. But the future is not linear nor a final destination. That’s where Ben’s approach to foresight-led strategy comes in. He works with organisations to consider longer-term horizons to understand where they want to go using trends from today that paint a picture around what the future will look like. And then, using the process of ‘backcasting’, Ben works with you to develop the critical path for how you get there. It involves planning for multiple scenarios and future states so you’re able to be agile and adapt more readily, while still having a clear focus for the short to medium-term priorities and a consistent north star to anchor you towards.

future of work

Ben built his futures expertise by specialising in the Future of Work, which saw him ranked as the number one influencer for the Future of Work in the Asia-Pacific and in the top ten globally. Ben intuitively understand people. It’s what he’s worked in, what he’s studied, and what he’s on the board of as a Non-Executive Director at the Australian HR Institute (AHRI). Ben is able to help you understand where your organisation is at with the Future of Work and identify opportunities for how you can get where you need to be, faster. Whether it be undertaking a Future of Work maturity assessment, developing a workforce strategy, or designing a future-proofed Employee Value Proposition, he’s on it.

research + engagement

Ben’s what we call a ‘pracademic’. He has a doctorate, has taught in Australia’s leading universities, been a Visiting Scholar at Yale, and through all of that has developed a strong background in research and complex stakeholder engagement. But he has a strong focus on making it practical. Because what good is research if it isn’t easily understood and used to drive some sort of change. By engaging Ben, you’ll have rigorous research expertise, an experience facilitator and a strong communicator with a knack for turning information into insights and focusing on the practical application of it all. This could include doing environmental scanning, scenario planning, or developing thought leadership reports and white papers.
